The future of freight transportation
DP World Cargospeed was created through a partnership between DP World and Virgin Hyperloop One, to provide hyperloop-enabled cargo systems to support the fast, sustainable and efficient delivery of palletised cargo.
DP World Cargospeed systems, enabled by Virgin Hyperloop One technology, will transport high-priority, time-sensitive goods including fresh food, medical supplies, electronics, and more. It will expand freight transportation capacity by connecting with existing modes of road, rail and air transport.
DP World Cargospeed will offer unprecedented customer experience, reliability and the freedom from having to plan too far ahead.
The Virgin Hyperloop One system underpinning DP World Cargospeed is unique in that it doesn’t need to be passenger-only or cargo-only. It is a mixed-use system that fully utilizes system capacity and maximises economic and social benefits.
Systems are 100% electric and can be powered by renewable energy, creating a more sustainable solution for cargo transport.
Cargo has always been a part of the Hyperloop picture, in fact Virgin Hyperloop One signed a deal with Dubai port operator DP World back in 2016 to conduct a feasibility study, looking at how the system could move goods inland from the region's ports. The two are now building on that partnership, by revealing a further fleshed out plan for how such a system would work.
